Palms of Reiki
A typical Reiki session will start off with a brief conversation to let you, the client, know what to expect and to answer any questions you may have. Then we'll talk about why you need the Reiki session, what is going on in your life, and what you are hoping to get out of the session(s). You will fill in a form with some basic information and acknowledge that you understand what can be expected from a typical session.
You then relax, on a massage table or seated, while I hold my palms on or above you. A session typically lasts an hour unless otherwise requested or my intuition guides me for a longer period of time. I, as many other practitioners in the western world use standard hand positions and commonly a full treatment is given covering all the important organs of the body. There is little or no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions, sometimes hands are even held away from the body. I work from your head to your feet over the front of your body before asking you to turn over and I then move from your head to your feet down the back of your body.
This is almost as difficult as answering how you will experience anything. Each of us is built differently in all aspects, be they mental, physical, emotional or spiritual. There is no definite experience anyone will have.
The more common experiences are feeling a tingling, hot or cold sensation somewhere in their body. Some people feel as though they are floating during the session. Some people fall asleep. Some feel that there are more than 2 sets of hands working on them. Some may have some emotional things come up. There is no right and wrong. All that I can suggest is that you allow the experience to be, instead of trying to control it.
The most common feelings afterwards are a drastic reduction in stress, and an extreme sense of relaxation, similar to what people usually feel after a massage but it seems to be more profound and longer lasting, and an overall feeling of being more balanced, calm, and centered.
Remember that all healing starts a process of release, this could be through emotions or even toxins in your body that you need to get rid of. You might initially even feel worse than before but this soon passes. You can help your body by drinking lots of water.
Reiki helps to balance the body, mind and spirit for yourself or anyone you want to help.
Reiki - a powerful and gentle healer
Once again there is no straight forward answer as we are all different. Most people can do with a couple of initial visits and then will only require one session every couple of months to keep them in balance. However if it is to treat something specific it may be necessary to come more frequently. The more complex the problem the more sessions one will require. Between the two of us we will know what the right balance is for you.
Please note that Reiki should never be used instead of medical treatment, it should be used as a complement and a way to become and remain healthy.
Having said that, Reiki can be used on any illness but this does not mean everyone will be healed using Reiki. Reiki will help restore the balance in the body and can relieve or even remove symptoms and the cause. Reiki has successfully been used on conditions such as reducing stress, pain relief, reducing recovery times, headaches, stomach upsets, back problems, arthritis, cancer, MS, PMS, sinus, eating disorders and many many more. There is no limit to what Reiki can be used for, however there are no gaurantees that it will work. The same as there are no gaurantees that anything will work.
According to Dr. John Zimmerman (1990, USA) and Dr. Seto (1992, Japan), Reiki has a pulse or frequency of its own and equal in terms of length to human brain waves. These two researchers have shown that there is a difference in the vibrational frequencies coming from trained and non-trained practitioners' hands. There is a further difference when measuring those frequencies during a Reiki session of between 0.3 - 30 HZ.
The most frequent measurement
observed was 7-8 Hz (the vibrational frequency found most often
in nature in harmony and in the music that research has shown to
be the most healing). This range of frequencies correlates with
the varying vibrational frequencies of healthy tissues and organs.
The range also incorporates the frequencies used in the electromagnetic
treatment equipment now being used in traditional medicine to accelerate
healing in bone, skin, etc.
Ligament mending - 10 HZ;
Bone growth - 7 HZ wave length;
Capillary formation - 15 HZ;
Nerve regeneration - 2 HZ wave length;
and many more.
this reason, in recent years many
investigators into complementary treatments have developed equipment emitting these
waves, along with ultra sound technology. It's also scientifically proven
that ultra sound technology (emitted by Dolphins and Whales) aids people in cases
of depression, cancer, clogged arteries, capillary problems, bone growth
difficulties, kidney stones, tissue regeneration difficulties, etc.
I would suggest that you read "Reiki Energy Medicine: Enhancing the Healing Process" written by Alice Moore, RN, BS, Reiki Master of Hartford Hospital, Department of Integrative Medicine. Download a PDF copy of the complete article by clicking here. This gives some insight into how Reiki works.
A typical Massage session will start off with a brief conversation to let you, the client, know what to expect and to answer any questions you may have. Then we'll talk about why you need the Massage session, what is going on in your life, and what you are hoping to get out of the session(s). This will determine which parts of your body require massage. A typical full body session will include work on your back, arms, legs, buttocks, stomach, feet, hands, head, neck, and shoulders. You will not be touched on or near your genitals (male or female) or nipples/aerolas (male or female). You will fill in a form with some basic information and acknowledge that you understand what can be expected from a typical session. You will aslo be asked which type of oil or lotion you would prefer is used.
The therapist will then leave the room whilst you disrobe. Most massage and bodywork techniques are traditionally performed with the client unclothed; however, it is entirely up to you what you want to wear. You should undress to your level of comfort. You will be properly draped during the entire session. You then relax, on a massage table relax onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean sheet.
A session typically lasts an hour unless otherwise requested. You will be properly draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being worked on will be exposed. What will a massage feel like? It depends on the techniques used. Many massage therapists use a form of Swedish massage, which is often a baseline for practitioners. In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. Often, a light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. The oil also helps hydrate your skin. You should communicate immediately if you feel any discomfort so that another approach may be taken. Massage and bodywork are most effective when your body is not resisting.
After the session is complete, the therapist will leave the room and you can take your time to get up and get dressed once again. Once you are dressed the therpist will talk to you and answer any questions that you may have about the session.
